Hi, I'm Julia Webster and I am your teacher at The Small Pilates Company. I have been teaching Body Control Pilates® Matwork in the local area since 2009. I first discovered Pilates trying to overcome an imbalance in my pelvis from giving birth. I liked it so much, I decided to make a career of it! My children were small at the time and it definitely helped that I could fit my Pilates teaching around childcare.

In my classes, we focus on getting the best we can from our bodies. It doesn't matter if you're injured or feel you are unfit, we can work towards getting the strength and control you need.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on conditioning the body and mind through strengthening, balancing and stretching. It is best known for strengthening the core muscles but does, in fact, work the whole body. Pilates re-teaches your body to move in it's normal, natural way, improving posture and ease of movement.

Body Control Pilates® is remarkably effective - and medically approved. It is of an holistic nature, being based upon a well-constructed philosophical foundation. Central to the Method is 'awareness of your own body' and each and every exercise is built around its eight basic principles:
